Dungeons on a Dime is a new series of roleplaying game adventures. Assembling much of the content needed to play into one package, each issue includes a framework story for the game master to expand and adventure through with their players. Jam-packed with illustrations from passionate artists, every adventure is accompanied by maps, paper-minis and character journals.
New Game Masters will learn from the world building tips and creative prompts throughout. Experienced Game Masters will enjoy the wide variety of cohesive content without the need for multiple subscriptions and assembly. Dungeons on a Dime is created with home printing in mind; ink friendly printer paper booklets with resources that can be assembled with minimal effort.
The biggest barrier to entry is a lack of Game Masters, and those who haven’t run a game before feel intimidated by the preparation required, and the costs of the rulebooks.
Dungeons on a Dime answers those problems with easy to understand, thrilling adventures designed to highlight different learning moments, both for players and GMs. The majority of the content is system agnostic, allowing it to be used across many roleplaying systems. Some parts refer to the 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons ruleset, as the free rules from Wizards of the Coast are the most accessible for new players.
In The Red is Dungeons on a Dime’s first adventure, and is full of city based fun! Chase sequences; sights, sounds and smells you’d find on a street, scenarios, an irksome wizard and his tower sanctum, a thief in the red and a gang out for blood!
Explore the theft of a ruby and the tangled mess a single gem can cause across a whole city with your players, in the risoprinted first issue of Dungeons on a Dime.
New and experienced Game Masters alike can delve into 36 pages of lushly illustrated scenarios, fully developed characters and diverse city based resources.
A wizard craving recognition, a thief in hot water, a gang with everything to prove, an adventure where nothing is as it first seems.
DOAD is a new magazine, written and printed locally in Edinburgh. It’s designed to be an entry level point for new game masters wanting to run their first roleplaying game. Each issue is comprised of a self-contained story, full with rich characters, scenarios, resources to play with, as well as tips and tricks about how to get in top character and improvise. The stories inside are written to be open ended, prompting game masters to think of the consequences of players’ actions instead of pushing them to railroad towards pre-set endings. Accompanying the main book are custom maps, paper miniatures and handouts to help immerse players in the game. All issues are handprinted using Risograph techniques in Leith, Scotland, and use environmentally friendly inks printed onto recycled paper.
DOAD’s content is mostly system neutral, as it explores roleplaying and character motivations more than specific rules and tactics. However, there are references to the 5th edition ruleset of Dungeons and Dragons so that it can neatly support players using the free Basic Rules online, or who have come from Adventure League games or who have a Starter Kit of their own.
