Hungry Out of Habit is an area control worldbuilding game for 2-6 players with no GM. We'll each play as the so-called rulers of neighboring kingdoms taking turns describing and inventing the world we're trying to control.
Players take turns adding things to the world and adjusting the loop of yarn that represents their kingdom's claim to the land of your table. Each turn, they visit the buffet and choose a plate to create new castles or landmarks, conquer castles and towns, and move their yarn borders across the table to expand their realm.
At the end of the game, your table will be a map of warring kingdoms, complete with their borders, contested lands, famous commanders, interesting towns, and more. Why are you doing all of this? Why must you continually remake the map and stake claims on towns you'll never visit? Do you truly care, or are you just Hungry Out of Habit?
Hungry out of Habit is a companion worldbuilding game that's based on the prologue of Uneasy Lies the Head. Play as rulers of rival, neighboring kingdoms engaged in a border war. Take turns claiming castles with your commanders, all while describing the towns, terrain, locales, landmarks, surpluses, and stories that make up your kingdoms. Once the game ends, you'll have a world perfect for the intrigue and schemes of Uneasy Lies the Head.
A loop of yarn represents the borders of your kingdom. Your commanders drag your yarn across the table when you claim a rival's castle or landmark. Any enemy commanders caught up in the conflict must retreat, taking their yarn with them. As this push and pull continues throughout the game, you'll have to ask yourself: do I truly care about expanding my kingdom, or am I just Hungry out of Habit?
